Castle Trail

Wander through the 98 acres of beautiful gardens of Hillsborough Castle. The gardens offer the visitor a contrast of ornamental grounds, woodland, waterways and lawns. The Castle is a working palace which functions as the official residence of the Royal Family when they are in Northern Ireland, and is the home of the Secretary of State.

Hillsborough Forest

Set within 150 acres of mixed woodlands, this is the ideal place to walk and relax in nature. The forest is rich with bird life and larger mammals, including foxes and badgers. Fishing, by permit only, is also available. The forest is open from dawn till dusk every day. Admission and car parking is free.

Visitors can also explore 10 sculptures along the trail with an exciting augmented reality App that takes you through the forest leading you from one sculpture to the next.

Mourne Mountains

The Mourne Mountains are the highest and most dramatic mountain range in Northern Ireland, its summits crowned by granite tors. The mountains themselves are criss-crossed by an unrivalled network of paths and tracks. The area was voted the ‘Best Walking Destination’ in Northern Ireland in WalkNI’s inaugural awards.
